    A newborn perspective before delivery

Why Would You Meet with a Neonatologist Before Your Baby Is Born?

Pregnancy can hold excitement and uncertainty at the same time. Questions about the first minutes, hours, or days after birth often need more space than a routine prenatal visit can provide.

Prenatal Consulting of Georgia gives families time with a board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician before delivery. The goal is not to predict an outcome. It is to explain possible newborn-care paths, organize questions, and help families feel more prepared to work with their medical team.

    Ideas to take with you

    • Routine newborn care and NICU preparation can both be discussed.
    • Questions are welcome even when a pregnancy is progressing normally.
    • Preparation can make an unfamiliar care setting feel more understandable.

Congratulations! You’re expecting, and that’s incredible. I’m Dr. Terri Traub Mann, board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician, and welcome to Prenatal Consulting of Georgia.

Pregnancy is an incredible journey filled with excitement, anticipation, and hope. But it’s completely normal to have questions, uncertainty, and anxiety about what lies ahead.

Over the years, I have taken care of some of the most vulnerable patients in the neonatal ICU, or NICU. I have had the privilege of taking care of premature babies, babies with congenital or genetic conditions, or those that simply need extra care soon after birth.

When I am taking care of these babies, I put a lot of emphasis on taking care of their families as well. And this is what I’ve noticed: most parents don’t meet a neonatologist until the hardest day of their lives—when a mother has an unexpected premature delivery, something goes wrong during delivery, or a baby needs a little extra support soon after birth.

In that moment, families are expected to absorb an overwhelming amount of information in a very short period of time, when they are exhausted, fearful, and unprepared for what lies ahead. Again and again, I hear the same thing: ‘I wish I had known this before.’

And that’s exactly why I created Prenatal Consulting of Georgia, so you don’t have to wait for the hardest day to get the answers that you need. If you’re looking to get the answers that you need during your pregnancy journey, feel free to book a consultation with me today.

    Expert guidance throughout pregnancy

How Prenatal Consulting of Georgia Can Help You

A prenatal consultation is a private telehealth conversation focused on your baby’s care after delivery. Families can bring ultrasound or testing summaries, concerns about prematurity or a fetal diagnosis, and the practical questions that have been difficult to fit into other appointments.

Dr. Traub Mann can explain newborn considerations in plain language and help turn uncertainty into a useful list for the clinicians already providing care. The consultation adds a newborn perspective. It does not replace obstetric, maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric, or emergency care.

    Ideas to take with you

    • Bring the questions that keep coming back to you.
    • Ask about both routine newborn care and what could happen if extra support is needed.
    • Leave with clearer language for conversations with your care team.

I’m Dr. Terri Traub Mann, and I’m a board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician. I would like to explain how Prenatal Consulting of Georgia can help you.

I wanted to create a safe space where expectant families can meet with a neonatologist before arriving at the hospital, not just when something unexpected happens. Being prepared ahead of time makes your delivery much less stressful.

Through personalized telehealth consultations, I’ll provide expectant mothers and their families with expert guidance throughout the pregnancy journey. Whether your pregnancy is progressing normally or you have been told you’re high risk, my goal is to answer your questions and explain complex medical information in a way that is easy to understand—and, most importantly, help you feel prepared and more confident for your delivery.

During our conversations, we can discuss things like your baby’s development; what happens if your baby is born prematurely; what a NICU stay would look like; how long your baby could potentially be in the NICU; congenital or genetic conditions; delivery planning; routine newborn care; support systems available to you at the hospital; or simply the questions that have been keeping you awake at night.

No question is too small. If it’s important to you, it’s important to me. If you need extra support and have questions, I would love to chat with you and help you and your family.

    Preparation supports confident advocacy

How Can You Feel More Prepared and Less Anxious Before Your Baby Arrives?

Advocacy begins with knowing what you want clarified. Ask what is known, what remains uncertain, and what new information would change the plan for delivery or newborn care.

A prenatal consultation can help you prepare those questions and understand which decisions belong with your obstetrician, maternal-fetal medicine specialist, pediatrician, or hospital newborn team. Preparation supports those relationships rather than replacing them.

    Ideas to take with you

    • Write down questions before appointments and keep one running list.
    • Ask clinicians to distinguish likely plans from backup possibilities.
    • Request plain-language explanations when a medical term is unfamiliar.

I’m Dr. Terri Traub Mann, and I’m a board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician. I would like to help you be the best advocate for yourself and your baby.

When families understand what to expect, they feel more prepared, empowered, and better able to advocate for their baby before, during, and after birth.

I also want you to know my role is not to replace your OB-GYN, maternal-fetal medicine doctor, or your pediatrician. Instead, I work alongside your healthcare team to provide an extra layer of education, support, and reassurance so that you can make informed decisions for yourself and your baby.

My mission is simple: to provide compassionate, expert guidance; give families peace of mind; and give them the confidence to navigate pregnancy and welcome their baby into this world.

It will be my privilege to be part of your journey, and I look forward to taking care of you and your family. So if you’re looking for more support and expert guidance, feel free to reach out and book a consultation today.

    Timing and support options

When to Consult a Neonatologist and Which Package Is Right for You

There is no single week of pregnancy when every family should schedule. Some families reach out after an anatomy scan or a new finding. Others want time to discuss routine newborn care, delivery-room questions, or how to prepare for a possible NICU stay.

Choose the amount of support based on the questions you have now and whether you expect to want follow-up conversations. Current single-session and multi-session options are listed on the Services & Pricing page.

    Ideas to take with you

    • Schedule early enough to have the conversation before your due date.
    • Choose based on the complexity of your questions and desired follow-up.
    • New information later in pregnancy may change what support feels useful.

I’m Dr. Terri Traub Mann, board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician, and founder of Prenatal Consulting of Georgia.

Two of the most common questions I get asked are: When should I book my first consultation, and which consultation package is right for me? Here’s my answer on timing: there’s no single right moment. When you have questions, I am here to answer them.

If you’re looking for a milestone during your pregnancy journey, a good time to consult me would be after your 20-week ultrasound or anatomy scan, in case something unexpected comes up and you have more questions. If anything unexpected does come up, we can sit down, talk about what it means, and go through the next steps for your pregnancy. But whenever questions come up, don’t wait. I’m here whenever you need guidance.

As for which consultation package fits you and your specific needs, I have built a few options to meet you wherever you are. Just have a few questions and need some reassurance? Tier 1 is a single-consultation package, and that may be all you need. If you’re looking for ongoing support, Tier 2 gives you check-ins at key milestones as new questions come up.

For families facing high-risk pregnancies, an unexpected diagnosis, or concern for a NICU stay, my comprehensive package, Tier 3, provides continued support throughout pregnancy. We can take the time to review complex medical information, discuss delivery planning, prepare for what to expect after birth, and ensure you feel prepared every step of the way before heading into the hospital for delivery.

No matter which option you choose, my goal is the same: to provide expert guidance, answer your questions, and help you feel confident, prepared, and empowered to advocate for your baby. So if one of these consultation packages fits your needs, feel free to book today.
